Math Homework
Homework is an extension of classwork. Occasionally, incomplete assignments will be sent home. The electronic learning goal is that each student complete at least four lessons per week on DreamBox. If that is done at school, there is no need to do more at home, though it is encouraged.
Reading Homework
3rds are expected to complete at least 80 minutes per week on Imagine Learning. If that is done at school, there is no need to do more at home, though more would definitely benefit your child's reading skills. I'll tell students weekly what their average is to help them stay on track. 3rds and 4ths should be reading at home nightly. Please see the "Book It!" box for a great incentive for reading.
Book It!
For part of the year, both grades take part in the Book It! program in which children read to earn a free pizza. Book choices are up to you, and reading aloud to siblings counts!
Writing Homework
Each week, students are offered two possible writing topics, or they may choose their own topic. I read a few to the class anonymously to highlight excellent writing.
We're happy to celebrate birthdays! Please e-mail me to confirm the number of students. A small, nonperishable treat is wonderful (please avoid full size cupcakes and full size doughnuts). You may send the treats with your child in the morning.
Ready for PE
We have PE every day of the week at 8:45. Students should come to school wearing footwear for PE. They are welcome to change into other shoes after PE.
